RX8 wins at German Indoor Master 2016
Race report by Mattia Pesenti
It was my first participation at this event and I knew that indoor racing with nitro cars is always particular (setup, tyres, ecc.).
Traugott Schaer and Beat Heiniger already gave me some tips before the race so I arrived at the track with the tyres ready and a basic setup.
In the first practice it wasn’t possible to drive, it was like driving on ice, but already in the second practice the car was better. We did some little changes and on friday evening the car was really good.
During the 4 rounds of qualifying we tried some more things and I could finished the 4 rounds in second position behind Tobias Kerler.
During the semifinal the car wasn’t easy to drive like on saturday but I tried to drive carefully in order to be in the main final. Unfortunately Tobias Kerler didn’t reach the final because he crashed the car at 5mins to go, a car leaved the pitlane without seeing Kerler.
The start was quite strange because we didn’t hear the horn so I started badly and I was on 7th position but I begin to push hard and the car was very fast and easy to drive. Before the final we did some other improvements and it was impressive. After 5mins I was chasing Manuela Raso on the lead, she did a mistake and so I took the lead until the end of the race. I won the 30mins final and did the best lap of the weekend.
This was my last nitro race for the season, but the first win this year.
Congratulations to Patrick Fankhauser that he finished 3rd in the 1/10 class.
Many thanks to my sponsors, my father-pitman Sergio, T+M Models and all the Xray drivers on the track.

Race report by Noah Asendorf
Last round of Swiss championship took place on 24th and 25th September in Aigle, in the French part of country. In free and controlled practice my car worked well, I did some small changes and then the car was perfect and ready for Qualification.
From 5 rounds of qualification I took 3 TQs and secured pole position. Roger Krähemann was able to qualify behind me with his XRAY. In the finals I won the first two mains with a big gap to second place. With this win, I secured the 2016 Swiss National Championship title in stock category.

6th Swiss National in Aigle
After a great week at the European Championship 40+ in Hamm we’re back for theter the sixth and final round of Swiss Championship. Unfortunately the two defectives glowplugs in the A-Final didn’t allow me to do better. My car was really fast and I could do better that than the 9th place.
After the last round in Sitterdorf, my teammate Raphael Wicki was leading the championship so I knew I have to give everything because Raphi is really fast.
It was a wet and cold weekend. The track was paved in the last month and slightly modified and I’ve never driven on it before.
On Friday we could drive only 15-20minutes and than the rain comes.
The first 3 qualifying heats were on wet track and so only one that counted was the 4th, on a dry track.
Michael Schäfer made it to the TQ for the first time in a National Championship race in front of Raphael Wicki. I finished 3rd in front of Oliver Krähemann in his first nitro race.
Sunday came and it rained more and more. The semifinal was on wet track and Raphi Wicki had really bad luck, his mechanic did more meters than the car. His engine stops many times due to the heavy rain and so he had to stop his race. Philipp Bühler ran a perfect run and he could bump up to he A-Main. Also Patrick Fankhauser, Marco Tanner, Dominik Mucnjak and Marco Schwab bumped up to the A-Main.
During my semifinal I did a little trip off the track but I could finish my race. The poleman Michael Schaefer won the semifinal in front of Cedric Ansermoz, me, Kevin Lehnerr and Flavio Zehnder. I was really lucky to reach the A-Main because I broke my car during my trip off the track.
During the warmup I wasn’t fast enough and the rain stops, but the track still very wet. The pit crew Mattia and Monika decided to change from rain tires to the damp ones just before the start. That was the right decision! Not easy to drive but faster than my colleagues with the rain tires. So I could drive my car to the win in front of Patrick and Michael.
The season finished with this last win and I win the Swiss Championship 2016!
Congratulations to my teammates Raphi Wicki, Vice Swiss Champion and Patrick Fankhauser in third place.
Thank to Mattia and Monika in the box. A big thank to Sue, she took wonderful pictures during the whole season. Thank you Sue!
